Product Details

Camp in comfort and style with this high-quality cabin tent from Kodiak Canvas. It is ideal for those extended use occasions. Made with premium-grade, Hydra-Shield!, 100% cotton duck canvas. Storm flaps are on the outside and will zip up from the upside. The canvas or awning is sewn onto the roof and is supported by a sturdy metal frame. The tight weave and silicone finish make this canvas watertight yet breathable, minimizing condensation and mugginess. Go ahead and touch the inside walls during a downpour - this canvas will not wick water. The robust 1-inch steel tube poles with welded corner braces will hold up to the weather.

The floor is super-duty, puncture resistant, 16 oz vinyl with welded seams that keeps water out. The tall ceiling (7.5 ft at peak) and steep walls (5.5 ft at sides) provide a roomy interior with stand-up, walk-around comfort. A large front door and 2 side doors with heavy-duty #10 zippers offer convenient access. 6 large windows allow ample airflow, and have no-see-um screen mesh, keeping out the smallest pests. Limited lifetime warranty on the Hydra Shield Canvas Tent. Kodiak Canvas Tent Camping products generally ship via FedEx.

  • Sidewalls roll up for openness and ventilation or extend out with poles to convert either side into a small awning.
  • Kodiak Camping Tents Include Heavy-Duty, 12-inch, steel rod, tent stakes.

How do Kodiak Canvas Tents compare with cheaper competitor canvas tents?

The first thing is that Kodiak Canvas is the Cadillac of canvas tents so you may invest a little more for a lot more quality.

One thing to compare is the tent weight. Some competitor 12x9 tents weigh about 69 lbs. This Kodiak Canvas tent weighs 87 lbs. That is 20% more tent for your money.

Other canvas tents are 8 oz. Kodiak Canvas is 8.5 and 10 oz on the roof. Canvas is tricky because there are a lot of factors other than just weight. Kodiak Canvas has a silicone treatment that is breathable and very durable (i.e. it will be waterproof for years and years of use) and will not wick (draw moisture from the outside when you rub against it on the inside).

Other canvas tents have the same center height 7.5 ft (90 inches ) but the sidewalls on the Kodiak Canvas tent are 5.5ft and others are 4 ft. That is going to make a huge difference in the inside room and comfort.

This floor is a super heavy 16 oz vinyl with welded seams, almost unheard of in other canvas tents.

On competitor canvas tents the 90-degree angle connector poles are a common failure point. Kodiak Canvas tents are reinforced with a welded brace and heavy-duty tubing.

Q: Can this tent handle a small wood stove for winter camping?

Asked by: Pete - 1/18/2021
A: We do not recommend a stove due to liability purposes. There is a 12x12 tent model 6170 that can handle a wood burning stove.
Answer provided by: Customer Support (1/19/2021)

Q: Is the optional tarp a ground cover for beneath the tent?

Asked by: Randy - 9/5/2020
A: yes, it helps protect the bottom of the tent from sharp rocks or sticks and keeps the bottom cleaner. If you don't buy the tarp, just buy a similiar size poly tarp at the hardware store. Just keep the tarp shorter than the bottom of the tent so any water doesn't roll down the sides and then collect under the bottom of the floor.

Q: IF ordered this week is there any chance I can receive the tent prior to October 3rd? I am departing on the 4th for a hunting trip and this appears to be the best option for the trip if it is available.

Asked by: John Bower - 8/23/2020
A: In stock tents usually ship very quickly and are usually delivered within a week or less to anywhere in mainland US. Expedited shipping options also available if needed.
Answer provided by: Admin (5/20/2024)

Q: I am curious if you have anymore pictures of that style tent set up also where will this tent be shipped from? One more question what is the warranty like and if I have an issue how will I address it? Thank you for your time Jeff

Asked by: Jeff Do you have anymore pictures of this style te - 2/27/2018
A: that's a very good question. We have added some more photographs to the listing if you check back now. It includes a lifetime warranty and if you run into any problems simply contact us.

Q: Is this tent suitable for Florida camping....extreme humidity? We are wondering if it molds with dampness since it is canvas?????

Asked by: Happy Camper - 8/17/2017
A: Yes, it is suitable for extreme humidity. We have a lot of Floridian customers who purchase these canvas tents. As long as you allow to dry before storing it you should be set.

Q: Can you fit 7 people if 2 of them are small children?

Asked by: Maddie - 8/20/2015
A: In most cases yes, but it does depend on the amount of gear you like to store inside the tent. Seven people might be pushing it even if there are children, especially if you are going to use mattresses, large cots, or large camping pads. It is a good idea to measure out 12' x 9' in your yard to get an idea of how much room it gives you.
Answer provided by: Charley Hansen (9/10/2015)

Q: I already understand. How do I get that awning that I see on the deluxe model 6133?

Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: The deluxe awning that is included on model 6133 is not sold separately, because it is sewn onto model 6133. That is, it is not attachable or standalone. The only way to get the deluxe awning on model 6133 is to purchase model 6133 instead of model 6121. It cannot be added after the fact.

Q: Is this an army tent like the ones are dads would have growing up?

Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: Yes and no. Many Army tents differ in the weight of canvas or the way it is waterproofed. There are dry waterproofing manufacturing methods and there are wet waterproofing manufacturing methods. Many of the Army tents that your folks use to have were treated with a wet waterproofing method leaving a waxy feeling and the unique smell on the canvas. In fact, you might recall that it actually was a little bit brittle in very cold weather and difficult to manage. Our canvas tents are treated with the dry method allowing it to breathe, stretch, and smell like canvas was made to smell. Both tents are very nice, but we are a bit partial to the Kodiak brand.

Q: Can I set this up by myself? I often go camping by myself for hunting and recreational purposes.

Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: You most definitely can set this up by yourself. No need to worry about having a second person. Assembly simply requires that you telescope the poles more gradually instead of telescoping them at once (a method you would use when you have two people). The same goes with disassembling the tent. It is difficult to explain without having the tent nearby. We recommend watching a video on model 6133 where it shows one of our fantastic employees (me) setting this up by myself.
Answer provided by: Charley Hansen (9/10/2015)

Q: It looks like the awning on the left-hand side is also the cover for the window/door. Is that correct?

Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: Yes, that is correct. The large screen door on the left side is designed to provide adequate ventilation. The awning that you see over that screen door is also the cover for the door in the event that it rains or if you need to close it while you're sleeping. It zips down on the left and right sides and the Velcro at the bottom horizontally.
Answer provided by: Charley Hansen (9/10/2015)

Q: What are the colors of this tent called? Is it the same as the other ones? That is, if I purchase one of the flex bow tents can this one match it? We need several for our young men's and girls camp.

Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: The colors were redesigned about two years ago and are now olive green and tan. If your tent is older the tent may not be a perfect match. However, regardless of when you purchase the tent they are still all considered earth tones-although not a perfect match they still look great together.
Answer provided by: Charley Hansen (9/10/2015)

Q: What do I do if I've accidentally punctured a hole in the floor? Can I just use a generic patch kit?

Asked by: Customer - 7/30/2015
A: Sometimes customers to puncture the tent floor by accident. I once had a Boy Scout drop a sharp pocketknife and it landed right on the floor and created an incision. You can use a generic patch kit that you can find in most sporting good stores.

Q: Will this tent sleep 6 people plus some bags for belongings?

Asked by: camper - 7/16/2015
A: Yes in most cases. However, it's so difficult to say that it will fit all of the campers and the gear, because depending on how many cots, sleeping pads, or mattresses you are using it could be less than six. Some campers bring an unusual amount of gear, especially if you are hunting and that can lower the number of people the tent can accommodate. As a rule of thumb it's a good idea to measure out 12' x 9' on your lawn and determine how much gear and people you can fit comfortably.
Answer provided by: Charley Hansen (9/10/2015)

Q: How many people does it take to put up this tent?

Asked by: camper - 7/16/2015
A: The first time you set this up you may find it helpful to have two people. It is difficult to explain without being next to the tent how it goes up with just one person. But, in a nutshell, you simply telescope the poles gradually instead of all at once and it's a piece of cake. Many customers set this up by themselves without any problems. It's just that first initial time you set it up you may be glad to have a second person. But it is not absolutely necessary.
Answer provided by: Charley Hansen (9/10/2015)

Q: Will my children be able to help put up this tent?

Asked by: camper - 7/16/2015
A: We recommend only adults assist in assembly.
Answer provided by: Charley Hansen (9/10/2015)

Q: Will this tent hold up in extreme wind and rain?

Asked by: camper - 7/16/2015
A: These canvas tents have been tested up to 40 mph though we do not recommend camping in such extreme weather. If the wind gets bad enough regardless of the tent or brand name your poles will simply bend. Replacement parts are available. It does take incredible storms to damage these tents. Nylon tents can be damaged in storms with wind gusts of 20 miles per hour. These are double that or more.
Answer provided by: Charley Hansen (9/10/2015)

Q: Will this tent keep out all critters?

Asked by: camper - 7/16/2015
A: This tent will keep out almost all critters. Be sure to keep the doors it closed. I went camping with a friend who left a small opening only to find a raccoon trapped inside his tent in the middle of the night. Luckily, it was able to find its way out. This does keep out insects, rodents, snakes, etc. The key is to make sure that you zip the tent closed completely.
Answer provided by: Charley Hansen (9/10/2015)

Q: How fast can this be put up?

Asked by: camper - 7/16/2015
A: This can be assembled in about 10 minutes. The first time you assemble it will take closer to 15 or 20 minutes, however. You do not need two people to assemble this, but the first time you assemble it you will be glad to have a second person handy. It also only takes one person to disassemble the tent.

Kodiak Tent 6121 an Excellent Buy!
This Kodiak tent is of superior quality and durability and is well ventilated with 6 windows. Its excellent for all weather campers and long outings. At 87 lbs it may not be your 1st choice for backpacking, other than that it will be my choice for camping out. The discount makes it a great buy!

Great tent, you will love it.
I Love my tent. I purchased the 6121 model about 2 years ago and have used it mostly in the fall through early winter out in the national forest, no amenities. I am in my late 50s and can easily set this tent up by myself. This tent is very well made as advertised and Competitive Edge does a great job betting it to you quickly. It has withstood rain fantastically, (no leaks) no experience with really high winds though. I think if there were, I could stake and tie it just fine. I use it mostly for hunting trips and it has plenty of room for my son and I including our gear, along with a propane heater for the cold nights. BE SURE TO USE A GOOD FIRE/CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR. I like the little zipper slot for the propane hose to run through. By the way my son is 64 inches tall and loves this tent for the head room. I have owned some really good tents from Colombia and Wenzel, THIS IS A MUCH BETTER TENT BY FAR.
